In June 1992, Takaya Developments, Ltd.’s partners initiated a second business venture.  A 5-acre site at the northern edge of Burrardview IR #3 was selected for development as a driving range.  This facility was designed to include a clubhouse with pro shop and restaurant, a two level tee area, a driving range enclosed with high netting, and a 50-stall paved parking area.

The facility was constructed in 1993 at a cost of approximately 2.1 million.  In December 1994, the TWN assumed full ownership of the development at no financial cost to the Tsleil-Waututh Nation.  The Takaya Golf Centre was thereafter established as a sole proprietorship business owned by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation.  The Nation’s economic development department overlooks the golf centre and an operations manager was hired to run day-to-day activities.

The Takaya Golf Centre currently offers regular driving range services and sells snack foods as well as clothing items.  Its concession facilities are not currently utilized.  A part of its facilities are used as an office location for the Takaya Development’s construction and real estate management staff.
